I hated Gavin, he was a mean jerk and excusing it with not having great social skills and having an asshat father just doesn't cut it for me.I guess the premise of the elders forcing mating or death for all species was interesting, although making them take a mate in 24 hours that will literally last hundreds of years of immortality seems very extreme.Gavin did improve his treatment of Ant during the story, but it just wasn't enough for me to get over the guy he was at the beginning of the story [...]

Honestly I only read this to get to the next two. And trust me no one was as surprised as me but I actually really enjoyed this one. A few editing mistakes but much fewer than the other Joyee books I have read. It was a simple story but enjoyable and entertaining. I liked the world Joyee set up and now hope the next two books are as good

A Squeak and a RoarI really enjoyed most of this book but there were a couple of things I just had to disregard to make it work for me. (I didn't have a problem with the multiple character first person POV but others might.) But some good things first: I liked the minor story plots, that the characters were willing to contact authorities to help with issues, that there was past abuse and trauma. I hate birthright which happens too often with shifters, but I like how in this book it doesn't mean [...]

Ok, Ill admit this series is a guilty pleasure of mine. I dont read shifter books as a general rule but when I have a challenge and I need one, this is my go to.Gavin and Ant are matched at the UPAC meeting and set up together in Indiana. There are some background issues for Ant with abuse and for Gavin, trouble with his father. However, a quick short read.

Okay, i think i should add context to my 4star rating. First, i picked up the first three books from this series because i expected them to be a bit of fluff- i think it's a bit naive to pick up a series called "midnight matings" from Manlove classics and expect deep literary nuance. The premise is insane, but it is what it is: the ruling council for all paranormals in the world ( a population drastically diminished by a war a quarter century before) decides it's time for everyone to get over it [...]

Awesome read.Okay as awesome as a shifter romance can be.Very cute, bit funny and entertaining read.I used to love mills & boon which had marriage of convenience as it had ample amount of drama in it.This story was something like that, but between two men.One the Lion shifter Gavin who was arrogant and a little jerk at times but with a very redeemable character(my instant love material)was forced into mating with Ant the mouse shifter who had hots for him and seek Gavin out when the UPAC cast [...]

2.5 StarsOH WOW. Gavin you are one major dickhead. Your actions in the beginning of the story really weren't enough for me to get over by the end of the book. Ant saved this for me. I ADORED him! He was a mouse shifter, but wasn't a pushover. I LOVED it. What I didn't get was (view spoiler)[Why did Gavin have to take over? Couldn't he appoint James and GiGi to do it instead of him? He REALLY didn't want to do it, so why? Change the rules. If anyone challenged his decision, then fight them or kic [...]

I've been reading some of these stories from the Midnight Mating series and first I need to say - if you're going to read these, you need to understand from page one that these stories are basically, fluff stories. There is no great literature being written here. They are from the Everlasting ManLove department, for crying out loud. With that said, I really enjoy them, for exactly what they are. No more, no less.I liked this first book about a lion and a mouse. Yep. Makes you think of the fable, [...]

I'm still laughing out loud about the idea of a lion mating a mouse but I can't say it didn't work. Gavin actually acted like an alpha male! I think it wasn't perfectmehow the author still managed to make him full of angst and insecurities but he was the better written guy so far. He didn't cry, he didn't pout or whimpered much and he was assertive in his opinions and power. With this author that's all we can ask for. Ant managed to act like a mouse shifter without being annoying, dependent and [...]

Ok this is by far the most awesome premise for a book I have ever read, and the execution is incredibly funny and sweet (and hot!). Ant and Gavin make such an improbable (!) yet adorable couple, the whole story was light and amusing, and all in all I will be reading more of it!

Ooookay A lion shifter and a mouse shifter A bit strange But these kinds of books aren't exactly written as non-fiction, it's "check reality at the door", so I actually thought that it worked. This was an easy read, and I loved Ant. Gavin, not so much in the beginning, but he did get better.I enjoyed this one but I'm not sure I'll continue with this series. The whole "mate-now!-panic" will probably feature in the rest of the series as well, and I think that might get real old real soon.

This was a short quick read that I almost didn't complete when I found out that one of the MC's was a mouse shifter. The paranormal world is in chaos. The elders are tired of their younger people playing the field, causing trouble, and fighting with each other. Everyone who attends the UPAC Conference now has twenty-four hours to claim a mate of a different species. If they don't, they will never have a mate. The spell is cast. There is no escaping the Midnight Mating's. Software developer Gavin [...]

Giving this 3 was a bit tough for me. But 2 is just so low and although i did not care for this book it wasn't horrible so 3 it ise concept of forced matings was ok i guess but the plot was a mess. the book was choppy and sub characters just appeared out of nowhereen you have asshat Gavin for the MC. I understand his Dad was no role model And Gavin had potential b/c he was strong enough to stand up to his Dad his whole life. So to me, that's a great foundation for a hot alpha MC, but the author [...]

Interesting start to a new series. I found the concept of the 'forced matings', including all the consequences if people don't obey these totally arbitrary (as far as I can see after one book) rules to be somewhat ridiculous.Still, that aside, the actual pairing of a lion and a mouse shifter had its appeal. Gavin the lion behaved in character (pompous, arrogant and unfeeling) until he learned his lesson, and Ant the mouse was cute, timid and - squeaky. I liked the way they approached each other [...]

Such a fun series! There are currently 20 books in the series, each book is written by either Joyee Flynn, Gabrielle Evans or Stormy Glenn. They could keep writing more as long as they continue creating interesting characters who shift into all kinds of wonderful and different animals/mythical beings and coming up with unique stories full of romance, crazy drama, angst and let's not forget the very hot sex!You don't have to read them in order, very rarely are other characters mentioned, but each [...]

I take anything written by Joyee Flynn with a pinch of salt and to be honest that’s normally the best way to approach her stories. This one specifically wasn’t half as bad as I’ve come to expect. Gavin is a lion shifter, which basically means he’s cold, unfeeling, an asshole and prone to big blowouts and misunderstandings. Until halfway through the book when he becomes a loving, caring mate thanks to Ant. And as for Ant, well, since we get everything from Gavin’s POV, Ant remains the s [...]

I had a hard time choosing a rating on this story and an even harder time writing a review. I had high hopes for this story, but ended up thinking the quality of this one was lacking. It felt like this may have been a rush job to me. I stumbled over a number of typos, so it pulled me out of the story due to rereading. Perhaps Joyee wasn't the only one in a hurry? The characters were a redeeming point. Ant is sweet and kind, and at the beginning I felt like he totally deserved better than Gavin's [...]

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm OK its has been a few days since I finished this book and I am still not sure what I make of it. I am just not too sure if I buy the premiss that is the back bone of this series. The story of these two men coming together and learning to live together was interesting and the dynamic of the family Gavin came from gave the story a layer it needed to make it work. I think I will have to read another in this series to decide how I feel about the core [...]

Fun read you can't take seriously at all. At least in the beginning. The start is so ridiculous and unreasonable, but it gets better after that. Gavin is pretty much a dick for the first 50% and not in the fun "I like him because of that." way. He gets his act together and some of it you can forgive him for. I loved that Anthony had some spine and wasn't just going to wilt and take Gavin and other peoples crap. Wish we'd got to see more of a punishment for a certain person, but I'll live. I'll p [...]

Cute little Siren romance. Fairly well written and easy to read. I love that part took place in Scotlandxy and the mass mating seemed hectic. I'm guessing the rest of the books will start in the same way so great start to a series. In this one we have a mouse shifter and a lion shifter and unlike most shifter books, these are not fated mates. They chose each other and then had to live with that decision. Entertaining.

I enjoyed this book, great start to a series. I just loved Anthony he was a sweetheart. I didn't think I would ever like Gavin he annoyed me so much at the beginning he was so rude to Anthony, not a reason not to read it, I figure if a book can tick me off then it did what it was supposed to do:-) He got much better as the book went on thank goodness. I have to say this is an interesting series and can't wait to read the other books out now and the future books in this series.

I'll admit I really didn't expect this book to be as good as it turned out being. I was just looking for something that wasn't very serious and the thought of a lion and mouse shifter mating sounded like it would be pretty funny. At the start of the book I thought that I might have made a mistake in judgement because the way it started sounded like the plot to some corny erotica. With the whole "everybody go mate now" proclamation. But it turned out I was wrong and I'm glad I was. The story was [...]

I didn't expect more than a couple of hours of fluff when I picked this up but I was actually pleasantly surprised. We get a lion mated to a mouse, which I find rather fun in its self, a jealous employee and an ass of a father. There is drama. A lot of drama. At a very high speed, so buckle up! What I didn't like was how unproportional Gavin's blow ups were. He was a bastard and what ever he did after never really made up for how he treats Ant in the beginning.
