At first I wasn't sure how well I would like this book. I haven't read the first two in the series, so I felt like I was missing out on some things. But by the middle of the book, I was liking it better. The storyline was actually really interesting and towards the end it was a page turner. I'm not sure how much I really like Kendall or Tally, but I would be interested in reading some of the other books in the series.

Reporter Kendal O’Dell is looking forward to a much-needed vacation with her rancher boyfriend, Tally. Her chances of getting away dwindle, however, when coworker, Lupe, begins acting strangely and suggests that she might have to quit. Reluctantly, Lupe confesses that her uncle and brother, who’ve entered the U.S. illegally, have gone missing. Kendal volunteers to help learn what happened to them provided that Lupe doesn’t leave. The decision causes a rift between her and Tally, but it soo [...]

Well, if this wasn't the biggest shock in the series, I don't know what was. WOW! I really do just love this series, it's sad to know there is only one left. Luckily, I can't afford it this week, so the sad end to my enjoyment of this series will be prolonged I suppose. It's depressing to know it will be over after one more book. Like so many other series I have enjoyed they seem to be cut too short. The description of the book tells you that the story is taken from headlines at the time. In the [...]

The third book in Sylvia Nobel's Kendall O'Dell series goes a little beyond the typical female murder mystery/romance genre. Since the series is set in Arizona, Nobel attacks the issue of illegal aliens coming from Mexico--and she presents both sides. It begins with Kendall wanting to help Lupe, an employee at the newspaper where Kendall is co-editor, find two of her relatives who have recently come to the US from Mexico. Lupe's relatives sneaked across the border with several other people and L [...]

This is the 3rd book in the Kendall O'Dell series. I really hate reading a series out of order but I had to order this through interlibrary loan (thank you Luke Air Force Base library) so I read Seeds of Vengeance, the 4th book, before Dark Moon Crossing. So I knew some of the things that were going to happen in this book but that didn't take away from the story line. I can say that this is a very complex (one might even say convoluted) story. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I will sa [...]

This was a quick read, good storyline with some interesting twists and turns (some that you can't see coming). I enjoyed the first two books in the series so bought this one and gulped it down. The heroine is still getting into trouble because she acts without thinking, usually acting on her "gut" feeling more than any true evidence. Of course, the authorities wouldn't believe her gut so she does what she feels she "needs" to to solve the mystery and get the story. This gets her into some very sc [...]

I was really annoyed by the politics in this book. The character's inner monologue and the diatribes by the ranchers seemed to be the author's own platforms, as I certainly don't know a southern Arizona rancher that believes for a second that illegals are coming over 'to illegally vote and influence our elections.' That sentence not only turned me off the book, but turned me off the author. If that were true, politicians would be welcoming them over in droves. Very one sided view of the immigrat [...]

I really liked this book. This is the 3rd book in the series and I believe it is the best so far. Very quick read that really held my interest. Had quite a suprise ending. Thought I had it all figured out, boy was I wrong.

this book is about illegal aliens crossing from mexico into arizona. it involves a felon posing as nun feeding the people, extraterrestrial sighting which turn out to be lights in a cave, a little romance, a little mystery and 400 plus pages.

I enjoyed this Kendall O'Dell entry even though I occasionally found myself nodding knowingly. The ending was shocking and not at all a happy one for all. Overall, I thought it was a quite good book and am looking forward to Ms. Nobel's next Kendall O'Dell story.

It was okay. I thought with all the current immigration news that it was very thought provoking. For some reason there were no question marks in the e-version so that made it a challenging read.

At first I thought this novel was about the poor immigrants just trying to make a better life for themselves and how they were abused. And then it was a space alien abduction. Or maybe it was about the plight of the ranchers suffering under the onslaught of illegal aliens invading from Mexico. This is the second "Kendall O'Dell" story I've read. These stories are OK, just OK. One of the problem with this story was the absolutely horrible editing job. There were many sentences without periods or [...]

This mystery has an intriguing plot line, but, unfortunately, it suffers from several severe defects. The narrative is underwhelming and it takes a fair amount a perseverance to make it to the end. The central character, Kendall O’Dell, is intelligent, stubborn, and courageous. She is also emotional and spends much of the book second-guessing herself. She is very impulsive, putting herself in hopeless life-or-death situations, only to be rescued in the nick of time by a male character. However [...]

Kendall O'Dell finds herself in hot water with her love interest because she is a reporter who can't resist a good story and ends up embroiled in not one or two, but three (or 4?) extremely heavy subjects in a fairly fast-moving (after the first few chapters) tale that takes place in the extreme desert southwest. This is the third in the series from Sylvia Nobel and the author mixes in an obvious love for her home state as well as current hotly debated topics which she tackles with little obviou [...]

Sylvia Nobel's Kendall O'Dell series gets better and better every book. She goes way beyond the typical female murder mystery/romance genre as she tackles local issues in the news. And not just little issues! She looks at both sides of immigration and how it effects people. When Kendall wants to help Lupe, an employee at the newspaper where Kendall is co-editor, she once again gets tangled up in a big mess of criminal activity. Lupe's relatives sneaked across the border with several other people [...]

This is my first exposure to Kendall O'Dell or Sylvia Nobel. It's been a while since I acquired this book, but it must be one that I got free from one of my several free Kindle book resources. Kendall is a reporter, but she gets mixed up in a devious human trafficking plot at the border of Arizona and Mexico, through a coworker who has had some relatives disappear amidst claims of UFO abductions.Through her stubborn inability to give up, Kendall uncovers the truth, risking her life as well as he [...]

About average for a romantic-suspense/mystery novel but not quite as good as the first two entries in the series.Nobel put enough twists in to elevate this story from run-of-the-mill status. I would have liked to have seen more of what Kendall discovered revealed over the course of the story instead of in an ‘info dump’ chapter after the climax. On the downside, Nobel spent too many words detailing Kendall’s confusion/doubts/angst over her relationship with Tally. She spent almost as many w [...]

I feel neutral about this book. About a reporter, Kendall O'Dell, who finds her way into the midst of issues between ranchers and illegal immigrant crossings at the U.S./Mexican border. Part of a series, of which I haven't read any other books from. The story was convoluted, and it took a while to reorient myself every time I reopened it. Yet at the same time, it was very predictable and I was not surprised at the bad guy's identity (although I'm sure it was supposed to be quite shocking). That [...]

A new author to watch forSo happy to have found a new author to watch for. I have to agree with some other reviewers who lost patience with Kendall's lack of backbone in standing up to some characters other than in her own head. Not having read earlier books in the series, I'm not aware of her relationship with Tally, but I was questioning whether he was as committed to her as you would want to see her favored man be. It didn't distract from an exciting and fast moving story though. I would high [...]

Couldn't put it down.Excellent beginning good switch to characters with brief explanations of who they were without losing site of the continuation of the story. A little too long in to thought patterns of heroine. Knew Payton was bad guy, "too good to be true" type. Great ending of beginning of discovery. Lots of twists and turns. Even a hint of "was Tally the bad guy?" Well done Sylvia Nobel!

I've read the first few books in this series and enjoyed them. However, Kendall O'Dell's particular knack for forging headlong into trouble via rash decisions based on gut feelings, with full knowledge of & total disregard for how it will affect others really annoyed me in this book. She should have learned by now to temper her behavior. The story itself was interesting though and the culprit wasn't obvious until the end.

Unbelievable, Hateful and HorrificI was really surprised at what was happening in this story. Also, I would never have believed the villain was who it turned out to be. The whole story kept me from putting down my Kindle. It was enjoyable, exciting and attention-getting. Although a lot of horrible things went on, I'm glad it had a happy ending. I look forward to reading more of your work.

What a lady, Kendall O'Dell is!!A very captivating story from the very first word to the last question. I haven't read any of Me. Novel's other books but having read this one I will definitely have to look into them. A double thumbs up for the ability to keep a readers interest in tact.

Good endingThis book was difficult for me to get into. The main character is yet another female who hares off on adventures with no forethought. When she finds herself in trouble, there's the inevitable coulda, woulda, shoulda routine. Unfortunately, there were few surprises in this story. I could anticipate most of her actions and consequences.

Good read I gave this book a 4star rating because it was good. I like a good who done it because I try to decide the person/people that are responsible for the act. Since I like mysteries/suspense, I enjoyed reading to find out if I was correct or not. It was a good and entertaining read.

Very Good ReadWithin the first couple of chapters, the book starts to take you on this winding & intriguing story. "Dark Moon Rising" is a vessel filled with curiosity, wonderment in her description of the desert and the colors of the night, but let's not forget the romantic and underlining tension with Kendall & Tally. Good read & I think you will enjoy it immensely.

WOWWhat an awesome surprise. I really wondered where the author was going with this. The plot took on a whole new twist and direction I couldn't possibly foresee. This was a pleasure to read. It's not often you read a book that can spin you so completely. Kudos! I look forward to seeing more by her. I highly recommend.
