This title describes modern history of Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. The strongest point of this book is that it includes a wider perspective than other books that focus on the history of an specific country. The depth of the book is limited because its ambitious table of contents. This was my textbook for a General Education Cluster on East Asia as a 1st year undergraduate. It's pretty informative, and it nicely covers all four countries of China, Japan, Korea, AND Vietnam, which I'm told that not many textbooks do.
