A charming Oxenham book that doesn't revolve around Jen and Joy or Maidlin. Margery Payne starts a new life in a sweet shop, soon meeting expert bird-watcher David Woodburn. She also meets her enigmatic new neighbors Virginia, Nanta, Minty and Mandy Rose, who are trying to distance themselves from a mysterious relative. Margery is an appealing, unpretentious heroine, but she is mired in an unlikely plot.
Not the strongest story from EJO, but a nice, gentle storyline - and an important connector between the Rachel and Damaris books and the Abbey series. Worth a read from Abbey fans and GO lovers in general!
