Ryan Bracha takes the concept of romantic comedy and completely inverts itor perverts it, you might say. He's often very funny (though what is it about the British and bathroom humor?), and the central concept of the Annoyance Officers is a clever one that will strike a chord with everybody. The story also veers toward drama near the end but doesn't lose its footing. This was an enjoyable departure from my usual fare.

He's done it again!Whilst I am very possibly at Number One Fan status where Ryan Bracha is concerned, I'm always massively surprised at the levels he continues to reach.Always something different and his writing style just continues to evolve in ALL the right ways.Anyway; gush much.Phoebe Jeebies and The Man Who Annoyed Everybody: Excellent. 5 star rating. It's making it onto my top 5 reads of 2016.Refreshing, relatable, sweet, it keeps hold of the satire whilst managing to deliver on romance.Ph [...]

Tony is a horrible man, he really is. He’s one of ‘the enlightened’ – a group of oddballs who are paid by a nasty rich kid to annoy people. Not in any major way but just enough to entertain the kid. And he’s good at it too. And then he meets Phoebe and she’s lovely, she really is.Phoebe Jeebies and The Man Who Annoyed Everybody is bloody marvelous and really showcases Ryan Bracha’s strengths as a storyteller. In lesser hands, Phoebe Jeebies and The Man Who Annoyed Everybody would h [...]

Phoebe Jeebies is a massive step forward for Bracha and a fine demonstration of a writer who's not just technically skilled, but who also has a damn good time putting words to the page and dragging you into his worlds. In Phoebe Jeebies Bracha gives us a genuinely funny, touching and disturbing peek into the motivations, or lack of at times, his truly modern characters. Phoebe and the narrator, Tony, chat the chapters away in a not so friendly bar that's a focal point for the organisation the ma [...]

I have only ever heard of Ryan Bracha through a friend and always thought his books were not for me but then I was given Phoebe Jeebies and the Man who Annoyed everyone and I was blown away.As soon as I started reading I was hooked and enthralled in the characters lives and I just had to know more. I easily flew through pages without realising as I just had to know where it was leading. The book is very funny but has a serious side too. Ryan definitely got the balance right.I can't leave a revie [...]

The reading I have been doing lately has been a bit heavy. So with this little ditty I took a needed break. It was a very good choice also. This was funny, odd, yet funny. What an absolutely ridiculous premise for a story I have to admit, yet it worked and worked well. To say anything more would be an immense spoiler. I have never read anything by this author yet I believe I shall. There is an interesting, off the wall wit to this man's style that I am sure I would enjoy looking into.An enjoyabl [...]

I’ve read many a Bracha book and his publishing path is a very windy one, always changing direction, throwing you off balance, but always going forward. This latest shows a softer side of Bracha, but it won’t be sharing shelves with Mills and Boon anytime soon. It tells the Story of Tony who, after a meeting with a shifty character in a grey tracksuit finds his life’s vocation, annoying the hell out of people and getting well paid for it. But then he meets Pheobe and his life’s vocation [...]

Bracha's acerbic wit is on full display, but there is also a profound sadness as the protagonist approaches the final leg of his quest for redemption, a journey of reveals that are beautiful, majestic even. As I sat on the greatest beach in the world, reading, I often turned to whomever was sitting directly to my left and remarked on what a great book I was indulging in, and now I turn to all of you, regardless of where you sit, to tell you the same. Highly recommended.

This is probably the most refreshing story I have read in 2016! Written by an author who has not taken himself too seriously and has clearly had fun whilst writing this tale of love, friendship, annoyance and being able to test peoples patience. We are introduced to our narrator; who to start has no name and he is courting (rather old fashioned I know!) our leading lady Phoebe. Our narrator begins to tell Phoebe about himself, most importantly how he became an Annoyance Officer. We are introduce [...]

When Ryan Bracha mentioned that his next novel was a love story, I became more than a little worried. With very few exceptions, I hate romantic fiction – the kind of boy-meets-girl, meet-cute, love-hate things just leaves me cold. I'll be honest – I was prepared to hate it.However, I needn't have worried. Bracha takes a form that generally leaves me cold and turns it on its head. Yes, it's a love story, but it's anything but conventional. Phoebe Jeebies' dark and slightly diseased heart has [...]

Bracha is the undisputed King of deepest, darkest humour (so much so that one almost imagines he'll turn out to be a serial killer hiding in plain sight) but there's an unexpected beauty to this book too. I really enjoyed it and struggled to put it down. I feel an impending book hangover coming with this one and would love to see more of this cast of characters in the future.

A new Bracha book hits the market - everything else stops. Get the book, call in to work, lock the doors, skip the shower, stay in bed, and read until your eyes bleed. Beauty is the author's ability to carry you through a complex and intriguing plot with ease, surrounded by intricate characters you will want to hug, then strangle, then hug again – throw in some surprising twists that will make you smile through your tears after a punch in the gut – to end up on the other side a better person [...]
