Agora Society, suspense, investigationGhost busting by the Society on behalf of a Penitent Thief.Reading previous Society shorts are not necessary to appreciation of thislogistical problem, but will probably induce the reader to furtherreadings of these fascinating puzzlers.Carl Brooke is the protagonist once again, having been asked by MrNordlinger to accompany him to the current residence of a man who is alsoa Penitent Thief. It really seems to be a kind of haunting, but is trulydiabolical. An [...]

An extremely clever Sherlock Holmes style crime novel where the threat of a murder, apparently to be committed by a ghost, must be prevented. The plot is clever and leads the reader down numerous dead ends, before finally revealing the would-be murderer. The characters are classic 19th century and although this is quite a short book the characters are still well drawn and believable. Overall a very good read. This was the first novella in this series that I have read, but I will be reading some of [...]

"If you want to know the man "A clever investigation into a threat to the life of a man recently released from prison for murder. Written very much in the style of a Sherlock Holmes mystery, Brooke, of the famed Agora Society is persuaded by his reforming friend Nordlinger, to travel with him to Fowler's Manor where the manservant lives in terror expecting that he will die horribly in a matter of days. An ingenious tale, nicely written in appropriate style. Can the reader deduce what is happenin [...]

Carl and Rutherford go off to aid a man accused of murder. Unfortunately that man is still alive. Extremely strange. A wonderful story that has you gripped and impossible to put it down. Received an ARC and reviewing because the book is so superb.

I simply loved this book. In the wonderful vein of the previous Agora Mystery stories, it blended the language, scenery, and customs of a long ago age with a delightful, clever mystery, as well as throwing in a twist or two! Well done, Mr. Boutwell. Keep 'em coming!

I really enjoyed Murder by Monday. Mr Brooke and Mr Nordlinger made a good team. The whole plot and the way it came together was pretty slick. There was a lot of suspense leading to an end I didn't see coming. Good read. For those who want to know: This is (refreshingly) a clean read.

I was a little disappointed to start with but as the story went on I became very interested in the story. It started to move a little faster and got a little more interesting. I would differently recommend the novella to any one who likes historical fiction set in England

Kindle Unlimited now. these books put me in mind of a mix of Sherlock, Marple, Poirot, but again definitely of Doyle's Watson. Read any of these stories together in set or once by one in order or standalone is fine too.A childhood nemesis. A threat seemingly from beyond the grave.
