Another debut I picked up from the library by a male Australian author writing quite a good chick lit book.I'm not one for your typical chick lit books, you know the kind I'm talking about - Miss so and so goes and has an affair with high flying married Mr so and so and the disaster that comes afterwards. I find those kinda books cheap and nasty to be honest, I''m not being a snob (I read a lot of King who definitely isn't literary mind of the year despite writing a good story), I just think of [...]

I been listening to another story of a woman needing to reinvent herself after a life-changing experience. Pictures of Us (2006) is Todd Alexander’s first novel and it’s an examination of a family that has grown apart as the children became adults. Maggie Appleton has been too busy to worry much about this, but her life changes and she realises how wide the gulf is between them.To read the rest of this review please visit anzlitlovers.wordpress/201

We were "told" the plot line rather than being shown through character actions and responses. I couldn't feel any empathy for these characters; they were [...]

The story of a dysfunctional family trying to deal with each other, and the past, after the loss of a family member. An ok read.

Creatively written. Honest. Provocative. Real. Australian family.

This is the second time I have read this book and I still enjoyed it although not as much as the first time I read it. It was not as predictable as most books and I enjoyed that.
